Pluto MedTech / Modern pharmacy operations
The prescription queue behind a calmer pharmacy.
A pharmacy workflow built around the real work happening behind the counter.
Keep the counter selling. Keep the dispensary dispensing.
ScriptQ is a hosted prescription queue and patient-flow platform for community pharmacies. It connects counter staff, dispensary teams, pharmacists, and patients through one shared workflow, with a live queue, public pharmacy directory and check-in, private status updates, and operational analytics.
Trial access starts after owner approval. No payment details or automatic paid conversion.

Founder, developer and support
John Ranola, founder of Pluto MedTech, created ScriptQ by combining his computer science expertise with nine years of community pharmacy experience across OTC and dispensary roles.
That experience shaped the entire system. ScriptQ is designed around the interruptions, handoffs, questions, waiting patients, stock checks, and time pressure that happen every day in a busy pharmacy.
John built ScriptQ to modernise how pharmacy work moves: keep the counter moving, give the dispensary a clear live queue, surface urgent requests, and provide patients with useful updates without exposing the staff dashboard.
ScriptQ is continuously supported and actively developed. John remains involved in product improvements and direct support as pharmacy teams use the service and new needs become clear.
One workflow shaped by both sides of the counter.
Bringing modern software into pharmacy
ScriptQ is designed to make the next step in a pharmacy request clear, from intake through to collection.
Many pharmacy systems carry forward dense screens, disconnected tools, slow handoffs, and workflows shaped by older software constraints. ScriptQ starts with the work pharmacy teams do today, bringing search, status updates, stock tracking, patient communication, analytics, and public check-in into one focused operational flow.
The browser-based workflow is designed to make the next action clear, reduce repeated typing, and keep ownership of each request visible to the team.
From first request to final collection
ScriptQ brings the shared live queue, public pharmacy directory, patient check-in, private status flow, stock workflow, staff-authored patient contact, and operational analytics into one hosted multi-pharmacy service. Product screens below are illustrative and use sample data, not live pharmacy records.
How it works
Every request—entered by staff or sent through patient check-in—lands in the same pharmacy workflow. Counter and dispensary teams can see its status, expected time, stock state, shelf location, and next action together through collection or cancellation.
Use All, Queued, Future, Awaiting Stock, Recently Changed, and Archive to find current work, scheduled returns, stock delays, updates, and history. Future prescriptions move to Queued on their scheduled date.
2 patients waiting • Estimated current wait: ~15 min
Patient intake
At intake, search from two characters of a recent patient’s name or phone number and select from up to five matches from the last 30 days. Only name, address, and phone are filled; dispensing notes and medication history stay hidden.
Stock follow-up
When an item is unavailable, record its expected arrival and track the follow-up in one stock record. Staff can see whether the supplier has been ordered from and whether the patient has been contacted, making the next step clear.
Patient Contact
Some questions are easier to resolve with a short message. Staff can use Contact to text a patient about a request, stock issue, or clarification, helping avoid call-backs and keep work moving. ScriptQ does not automatically send status-change messages.
Patient Kiosk
Have an older tablet or phone? Give it a useful new role as a pharmacy-personalised ScriptQ kiosk where patients can complete and submit their prescription request forms. The simple, touch-friendly screen connects each request directly to the same queue and live wait estimate as ScriptQ public check-in, while keeping the staff workflow out of sight.
After submission, the kiosk shows a neutral confirmation and returns to a blank form after 12 seconds, or immediately when staff select Ready for next patient. It does not display a status link, retain form details in browser storage, or expose the previous patient's information.

Operations
ScriptQ gives pharmacy owners and managers a lightweight analytics dashboard for understanding workload without copying patient-identifying queue fields into analytics data. It tracks waiting, in-progress, ready, overdue, and stock-delayed work, collections today, public QR check-ins, average wait, weekly volume, busiest and quietest days, seven-day activity, and hourly demand.
Its live wait estimate uses a dispensary pipeline model rather than a simple clock average: active work, in-progress preparation, queued prescriptions, scheduled promises, and overdue workload are compared to produce a more useful clearance estimate.

Hosted for community pharmacies
Your team signs into one hosted ScriptQ workspace and shares the same queue. Requests and operational records stay within your pharmacy's workspace, separate from other pharmacies using ScriptQ.
Patients use public directory, check-in, and private status pages without opening the staff queue. Status links show limited progress and safe stock updates, not internal notes or other pharmacy records. Hosted onboarding is currently controlled; no high-availability guarantee is offered.
Print these signs so patients can open the correct pharmacy check-in form.
Sample Community Pharmacy
Creating secure demo session...Every screen, one queue
ScriptQ is browser-based, so staff can access their pharmacy's hosted workspace from supported phones, tablets, laptops, and desktop computers. Counter staff can check a request while the dispensary updates its status, with everyone working in the same pharmacy queue.
A manager can review operational activity, while a shared counter tablet can run the patient kiosk flow. Each role uses the screen that fits the task, without maintaining duplicate queues or installing separate staff apps.
Digital experience for patients
Patients can find a participating pharmacy, check today's hours and instructions, send a request through its link or QR code, and follow progress privately without seeing the staff queue.
Public patient check-in website
The public check-in website starts with a directory of active, approved ScriptQ pharmacies. Patients can search by pharmacy name or location, check today's opening hours, contact details, prescription instructions, and suggested wait, then open the request page for the pharmacy they choose. Pharmacy teams manage their public listing from the staff workspace.

Check-in and private updates
Patients open a pharmacy-specific link or scan its QR code, submit a request, and choose the current suggested wait or a later return time. The request goes directly to the pharmacy they selected.
A private random status link shows limited progress, expected time, and safe stock updates—not the full queue, internal notes, shelf location, or queue IDs. Patients can use this page to check progress. If a question or issue needs attention, staff can use Contact to send a staff-authored text, often avoiding a phone call.

Privacy and data protection
ScriptQ includes technical safeguards for confidential pharmacy workflows, but software alone cannot make an organisation GDPR compliant. The pharmacy remains responsible for the lawful and appropriate use of patient data.
Hosted pharmacy records are scoped by pharmacy account ID. Pharmacy-facing queries apply that boundary before reading or changing operational records.
Public check-in and private token-based status pages are kept separate from staff operations. Status responses expose limited progress information, not patient identity, notes, staff details, shelf locations, or internal IDs.
Public submissions use CSRF protection, rate limits, input controls, no-cache responses, and duplicate-submission protection. Hosted live queue details normally expire after 30 days; pharmacies approve that period during onboarding and control copies they export or print.
Owner monitoring reports application and database capacity signals without retaining patient names, contact details, prescription content, notes, or status tokens.
Hosted audit records are scoped to the relevant pharmacy and account activity, helping owners review operational administration without exposing another pharmacy's records.
This overview describes current technical safeguards. It is not legal advice, a GDPR certification, or approval from the Irish Data Protection Commission.

What comes next
ScriptQ is actively supported and continuously developed. The roadmap is shaped by real pharmacy workflows, with future capabilities planned to extend the queue beyond prescription intake and collection.
These are planned improvements, not features currently included in the live system. Their design and release timing will be guided by pharmacy feedback, testing, privacy requirements, and operational value.
Planned support for clearer blister-pack workflow and repeat dispensing coordination.
A planned collection-ticket workflow that gives each patient a unique number linked to their prescription, making collection clear and efficient when the item is ready.
Purpose-built, pharmacy-personalised kiosk hardware for teams that want an official dedicated patient check-in point alongside the option to reuse an existing tablet or phone.
Patient-safe waiting-area displays planned to show live service guidance, estimated waits, and anonymous collection numbers without exposing patient-identifying information.
